Tetrads, the Newman-Penrose Formalism and Spinors,t vector fields called a tetrad basis at each point of a region of spacetime. The relevant equations are written in this basis and if the tetrad is aligned according to the symmetries of the spacetime an easier set of equations may ensue which could be amenable to solution.
