Global coherence and grounding in discourseell-formed texts is staged in such a way that the hearer can relate supportive material to more important information. Levinsohn (1992) argues that it is this ordering of information according to communication-functional principles rather than structural principles of paragraph organisation that govern the organisation of discourse.
