Interactions among Cellular Compartments in Euglena during Chloroplast Development properties while PRINGSHEIM & PRINGSHEIM (1952) who had originally isolated this strain, also showed that growth above 32 °C would bring about irreversible loss of plastids. Out of these observations has grown a body of knowledge and techniques for exploiting these useful attributes.

Electron-Microscopic Study of Chloroplasts in Zygotes of Chlamydomonas Reinhardi968; SURZYCKI et al. 1970; STOLBOVA 1971). In a majority of cases classical Mendelian inheritance was found. Attempts were also made to localize on the map extranuclear genes believed to be chloroplast genes (SAGER & RAMANIS 1970).

What are the potential mechanisms of integration among the chloroplasts, the mitochondria, and the nucleo-cytoplasm? Which of these mechanisms is used? We have been exploring some specific aspects of these general problems.

Relationship between the Protein-Synthesizing System and the Structure of Chloroplastssimilar to cytoplasmic ribosomes of eukaryotes and are similar to ribosomes of prokaryotes. The components of the pre-ribosomal stage of protein synthesis (tRNA and aminoacyl-tRNA-synthetase) and the mechanism of the initiation of the protein synthesis are not identical to cytoplasmic components either.
