Descriptive and Experimental Embryology of the Turbellaria: Present Knowledge, Open Questions and Fue gut and surrounds the internal organs. It consists of several non proliferating differentiated cell types and a particular class of undifferentiated mitotic cells usually called neoblasts (for a quantitative analysis of cell types, see Bagu?a and Romero, 1981; Romero, 1987).

Candace E. Elliott,Barbara J. Howlettlar organization of multicellular organisms directs the specialization of previously undifferentiated cells at distinct sites. It is a prerequisite for development of a specialized organism. Without a polar organization there can be no differentiation.
