Reducing VM Startup Time and Storage Costs by VM Image Content Consolidationf VMIs. We then evaluated our approach with the ConPaaS VMI, an open-source Platform-as-a-Service runtime. Compared to an unmodified ConPaaS VMI, our approach results in up to four times reduction of the disk size, three times speedup for the VM startup time, and three times reduction of storage cost.

Towards Data Interoperability of Cloud Infrastructures Using Cloud Storage ServicesIn this paper we address the open issue of data interoperability in clouds, and propose an approach to manage and share user data produced by mobile devices in different IaaS clouds. The approach is exemplified with an image generator application, and the performance of the application is evaluated with Android devices and a private IaaS cloud.

We show this approach with three cases: clouds-of-clouds for storage with the DepSky system; cloud-of-clouds for data processing with MapReduce; the execution of arbitrary services in clouds-of-clouds with the EBAWA algorithm.
