Munich Beginnings,as wide and gave rise to a broad range of themes for doctoral dissertations. Apart from Debye, the early “Sommerfeld school” before World War I included Ludwig Hopf, Paul Peter Ewald, and Wilhelm Lenz.

Conclusion,ts was considered more important than adherence to principles. This attitude was perfectly suited to accommodating quantum theory as a research subject of his school when physics underwent a period of rapid change.
