A Comparison of Student Perceptions of Physical and Virtual Engineering Laboratory Classes a hands-on laboratory. It was found that physical experiments offer benefits in terms of an appreciation of reality versus ideal theory, understanding of measurement and error, the experience of equipment handling and preparation for industry, whilst well-designed virtual experiments were seen mostly as a useful adjunct.
