Early Experimental Studies of Meaningation constructed was ‘Dakshin Gangotri’ (DG) and later a permanent station ‘Maitri’ was constructed on ice-free hills named as ‘Schirmacher Hills’. In this chapter, various construction aspects of the Indian station has been discussed. The first expedition to Antarctica was led by Dr. S. Z. Qasim, an eminent Oceanographer.

Emptying Consciousness: Functionalism,ogramme, and during the third ISAE the first Indian research base Dakshin Gangotri was established. A brief history of various aspects of the establishment of Dakshin Gangotri through time is made in this paper.

Engineering in Antarctica: Assessment Status Report,fic institutions in the country has been attempting to establish habitats in Antarctica for last two decades. Establishing Dakshin Gangotri and Maitri station in Antarctica is a creditable achievement of Indian Expeditions. This report gives brief idea on Scientific/Engineering contribution of R&DE (Engineers) in Antarctica.
