Low-Power Vacuum Tube Amplifiers,ate amplifiers are efficient, inexpensive, and capable of sounding great too. However, vacuum tube amplifiers, which we will usually just call tube amps from now on, have a certain mojo that really can’t be duplicated with transistors or op amps.

Pickups and Volume and Tone Controls,A pickup is an example of what an engineer would call a .. A transducer is a device that transforms a non-electrical quantity (temperature, strain, pressure, velocity, etc.) into an electrical signal. Of course, here we are interested in converting the vibration of a string into a corresponding electrical signal.
