Electron Spectroscopy of Surfaces via Field and Photoemissionrbed monolayers of gases, is currently being obtained using field and photoemission spectroscopy. These notes are not a comprehensive review of the field as many such articles already exist or are in preparation now(1–6). The emphasis here will be on some of the theoretical principles underlying the physics of the measurement process.
