描述.Civil and military aircraft – and aerospace vehicles in general – face two related problems:.- They depend heavily upon electronic systems and thus must be shielded against electromagnetic interference (EMI). This interference may come in the form of lighting strikes, interference from radio emitters, nuclear electromagnetic pulses (EMP), or even high power microwave (HPM) threats.- Environmental conditions including moisture, rain, and pollution from the atmosphere may corrode airframes, skin, and other bonded joints. Most importantly, this corrosion may damage the conductivity and electromagnetic shielding of the vehicle..This book addresses both problems..

https://doi.org/10.1007/b138585EMI gaskets are used to provide a continuous, low-impedance electrical bond between two metal faying surfaces. They are pliable so as to mold to typical faying surface irregularities. They can be used for a variety of applications including grounding, lightning protection, and electromagnetic shielding.

Field Test Evaluations on E-3A Aircraft,uirements. This procedure allows moisture to be trapped between the surfaces, resulting in severe corrosion. The nonconductive corrosion products that develop between these surfaces have proven to increase the impedance high enough to destroy the nuclear hardness of an weapon system.
