The Electric Quadrupole Mass SeparatorThe quadrupole mass separator uses only a high frequency field for separating isotopes. Since a number of new experimental details appeared in the course of an investigation of this separator, we would like to present them, even though we have no special experience with radioactive isotopes.

Isotope Separator at the Nobel Institute of Physics, StockholmThe electromagnetic isotope separator at the Nobel Institute of Physics has for a period of over ten years been used to a large extent in low energy nuclear physics research. During this period an extensive rebuilding of the whole machine has also been carried out; this was finished about two years ago [1].

A Method of Rapid Electromagnetic Separation of Radioactive IsotopesIn our nuclear spectroscopy work at the Nobel Institute of Physics we were faced with the problem of separating activities with half-lives as short as a few minutes. Here a short description of the technical solutions we have chosen and the main factors influencing the decisions will be given. Further, the result of some runs will be reported.

Some Problems Related with Ion Sources for Radioactive Isotopesin certain cases, and a long life of the cathode. Efficiency is very often a secondary requirement, at least for low scale production, even when the element or the compound is expensive. In the same way, the rapidity of the source operation is seldom important.
