描述The origins of this volume date back to the 1978 American Society of Limnology and Oceanography (ASLO) meetings in Victoria, British Columbia. Interest in the ecology of mysids, particularly Mysis relieta. was growing rapidly, so a meeting of active workers was held at the ASLO conference. Although the small group of researchers attending that first meeting were primarily North American and interested in Mysis relieta. the group quickly expanded to include researchers from every continent with interests in all aspects of mysid biology (see Appendix). The group, informally called the Mysid Research Group, formed to serve two basic functions·. The first was to facilitate communication among mysid researchers by publishing a member- ship list and periodic newsletters. The second was to organize an international symposium on mysid ecology. After several false starts, a symposium was successfully held in conjunction with the 1981 ASLO meetings in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The symposium lasted over parts of two days with an evening workshop the second day. Altogether, 1 poster and 21 oral presentations were given by 42 researchers. Land-Based Intensive Aquaculture Systems, mysids identified in the stomachs live in close association with the sediment and are rarely caught in pelagic nets. Mysids contributed significantly to the diets of many demersal fish but were not apparently important constituents of the food of pelagic fish.

Records for Managerial Analysesboratory grazing and/ or predation experiments have recently been completed using . primarily from Lakes Michigan and Tahoe. . is concluded to be opportunistic, capable of utilizing a variety of food resources. It may play an important role in structuring limnetic food webs.

Roumiana Tsenkova,Jelena Muncanen 4 and 8 h of incubation were significantly higher than those between 1–3 h and 8–15 h, for mysids held both in filtered water and in . cultures. The results are compared to those from shipboard incubations in a previous study and are discussed with respect to physiological regulation of nitrogenous waste production.

James Gott,Rolf Morgenstern,Maja Turn?eksms desirable for research purposes. Continued research using mysid species will probably demonstrate even greater usefulness of these organisms in assessment of pollutant impacts on estuarine or marine communities.

Production, population biology and diet of , (Leach) in a shallow Frisian lake (The Netherlands),han 95% detritus and animal food, the latter mainly consisting of .and cyclopoid copepods. Feeding intensity reached a maximum at sunset. It was still high during the first part of the night and was low in the morning just after sunrise.
