Solving the Poisson Disorder Problem,r. The results showed that 20E signaling initiates with ligand binding to the putative membrane ecdysone receptor, increased intracellular Ca., the activation of PKC and caspase 3-like protease, and finally DNA and nuclear fragmentation.

Regulation of Sciarid DNA Puffs by Ecdysone: Mechanisms and Perspectivesposed. Studies in transgenic . that contributed to the understanding of the mechanisms that regulate Sciaridae DNA puff gene amplification and transcription are described. Finally, the availability of antibodies raised against the EcR, will further extend the knowledge about the roles exerted by ecdysone in this unique model system.

Diversity of Ecdysteroids in Animal Speciest other Invertebrates and also in Tunicates. Definite proof for their endogenous origin is however still lacking, and their physiological functions (if any) remain to be established. It is hoped that thanks to the availability of whole genome sequencing of an increasing species number, tools will become available for answering these questions.
