Cortical Cholinergic Hypofunction and Behavioral Impairment Produced by Basal Forebrain Lesions in ts that cortical cholinergic dysfunction may underlie certain learning and memory deficits in AD. The present communication is part of an ongoing effort aimed at investigating the role of the MNBF-cortical pathway in memory and developing a useful animal model of AD (8, 18).

Relationships between Choline Acetyltransferase and Muscarinic Binding in Aging Rodent Brain and in A/J mice, we have observed age-dependent increases in ChAT (26); whereas, other studies have revealed no changes or decreases in the brains of C57BL/6J mice (23, 25), other mouse strains (24), and rats (2, 23, 25).
