描述.This book introduces the diagnosis of Emerging Infectious Diseases (EIDs), including newly emerging infectious diseases and also infectious diseases that show resistance to present treatments. Radiographic examinations are of great value in EIDs diagnosis, differential diagnosis, treatment efficacy assessment and prognosis evaluation. This book covers severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), human avian influenza (H5N1, H7N9), influenza A (H1N1), hand-foot-mouth disease, acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS), viral hepatitis, pulmonary tuberculosis. All seven of these EIDs are associated with high incidence and mortality. This book details the imaging techniques, radiological appearance and characteristics of EIDs, and diagnosis and differential diagnosis of EID-related complications. Considering the unique and in some cases only partially understood nature of EIDs, appropriate space is provided in this book for the detailed explanation of the etiology, epidemiology, pathophysiology, clinical symptoms and signs, laboratory tests, clinical diagnosis and differential diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and prognosis of EIDs. Andrea Bartl,Ariane Martin,Paul Whitehead A (H1N1) virus, a new variant of influenza virus. Its viral strains contain gene segments of three types of influenza viruses, namely swine influenza virus, avian influenza virus and human influenza virus. Andrea Bartl,Ariane Martin,Paul Whiteheadpatitis E are transmitted mainly via fecal-mouth route which are mainly manifested as acute infections. Hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and hepatitis D are transmitted mainly via extra-gastrointestinal routes, commonly manifested as chronic infection, and the condition rarely develops into hepatic cirrhosis and even hepatocellular carcinoma.

The pathogens inducing HFMD mainly include echovirus, Coxsackie virus group A (serotype 4, 5, 9, 10, and 16) and group B (serotype 2 and 5), and enterovirus 71 (EV71). Among these pathogens, EV71 and Cox A16 are the most common.
