The origin of topicality changes in the passive is identified, and I point out that there are two types of origins involved in the passive. Finally, I introduce voice continuum and analyse the gradient nature of the passive.

Passive Diathesis, we have already briefly seen two types of unaccusative in Chapter 6, examples (64) (i.e. unaccusative-middle) and (65) (i.e. unaccusative in progressive). The other two are related to modality. The modality domain contains clauses with an adjective with the suffix -. (potentiality) and the construction type . (obligation).
