The Infrared Determination of Oil in Phosphorusreproduce. A simple rapid infrared method dependent upon the measurement of the C—H bands of the oil dissolved in a molten sample of yellow phosphorus is routinely used for this determination in our laboratory. This method requires approximately 15 to 30 min per analysis in contrast to 2 to 4 hr for other methods.
