MINE-SITES: Defining Factors and Size Determination,has been referred to as mine-site definition and the criteria applied as defining factors. This chapter will identify the factors, discuss the values assigned to them and, where possible, try to identify the sources of the values. The factors are generally agreed upon, but the values to be assigned to them are not.

Apart from general statements such as these, the US mining consortia have offered little additional information concerning their estimates of available mine-sites.
