Tankbott. All it can do is follow a preprogrammed set of directions (e.g., drive straight for 2 seconds, turn right, etc.). However, Tankbot itself will become the base for some more complicated robots presented in later chapters.

Bugbot. With its more sophisticated sensors and programming, Bugbot is much better at navigating around obstacles than the previous Bumpbots. The RCX’s timer and counter capabilities are also utilized, and the concepts of . and . behavior are introduced.

Onebott for movement, leaving only a single output free for other functions. What if those other functions need two independent motors? Onebot is a variation of Tribot that uses a single motor to move around. Although Onebot itself is only a simple bumper car, its design can serve as the basis for more complicated robots.

Diffbotre used, the principle remains the same: drive both sides at the same speed to go straight, and drive one side faster than the other to turn. Since driving straight requires both motors to be turning at the exact same speed, slight variations in the motors can cause the robot to drift quite a bit to the left or right.
