Stability and Failure Mechanisms of Riprap on Steep Slopes Exposed to Overtopping the middle of the riprap, buckling is described as the failure mechanism for placed riprap with a fixed toe with analogy to Euler’s Buckling theory. Dumped riprap failed by sliding down the filter layer as soon as the top of the stones were overtopped by the flow.

Piping Risk Reduction Measures for Mengkuang Dam Upgrading Project risk reduction measures implemented for the dam upgrading project. The techniques developed for alleviating piping risk was effective, judging from behavior of the dam and dam instrumentation records that were within expected ranges.

General Office of the Ministry of Transportnkment dam and to decrease the cost of concrete dam. Methods have been investigated to build the Jinjigou CMD with soft rock material for the first time in the world. Mix design of materials and in-situ direct shear tests have been introduced. Meaningful results have been achieved.
