The Arachnoidea, or the neural crest (Leikola 1976; Bargmann et al. 1982). Both kinds of neurothelial cells, the arachnoidal cells of the CNS as well as the perineurial cells of the peripheral nerves, are characterized by the abundancy of intermediate filaments.
