With no refugee status, some displaced children faced the risk of being arrested and deported. Some displaced children became the victims of human trafficking. Some displaced children still led a life of vagrancy.

Children Affected by Armed Conflict in the Western Borderlands of Myanmar,As the main battlegrounds of the conflicting parties, Rakhine State, Chin State and Sagaing Region have witnessed a massive number of child casualties. After “Operation 1027” in 2023, both Myanmar’s military and the anti-government armed organizations have been stuck on a seesaw, while child casualties are increasing.

Obstacles Facing the Stakeholders,Since 2021, the stakeholders responsible for protecting children from armed conflict have faced three obstacles: insufficient consensus, insufficient cohesion and funding gaps. Any of these obstacles may affect vulnerable children directly or indirectly, and even prevent reconciliation among the conflicting parties in Myanmar.
