Habsburg Absolutism and the Resistance of the Hungarian Estates in the Sixteenth and Seventeenth Celevels at which it was fought, and discuss the tactical and strategic differences between resistance in the Austrian hereditary lands and in Bohemia and Hungary. In this chapter I should like to address the reasons for these differences, looking in particular at social structure and the estates.
