In these cases resorption and sequestrum formation were extensive. The measurements of interfragmentary compression showed a good orrelation between stability of the fixation and type of bone healing.

Results,came trapped between the bars of the box. Three animals died from systemic diseases, whereby in 2 cases a systemic spread from the local infectious process could not be excluded with certainty. Two animals of the group "no compression with one plate" sustained a fracture of the operated extremity within the first postoperative week.
