Cerebral Cortex,The cerebral cortex is the most distinctive feature of the human brain. It is composed almost entirely of neocortex, the most recent part of the cortex to develop in the evolutionary time scale. Archicortex (hippocampus) and paleocortex (olfactory cortex) form only a small fraction of cerebral cortex in man.
