An Adaptive POD Approximation Method for the Control of Advection-Diffusion Equations,ton–Jacobi equation. We discuss several features regarding the adaptivity of the method, the role of error estimate indicators to choose a time subdivision of the problem and the computation of the basis functions. Some test problems are presented to illustrate the method.

Gradient Computation for Model Calibration with Pointwise Observations,lves Dirac delta functions and needs a special treatment from a numerical point of view. We show by means of numerical results that also the order of discretizing and optimizing plays an important role.

A Globalized Newton Method for the Optimal Control of Fermionic Systems,cted from nodal trial functions, which leads to diagonalized matrix approximations of variable coefficient terms. First and second order optimality conditions are given for the control and a robust line search is described for computing a local minimizer.
