Zielsetzung und Aufbau der Untersuchung, which allows us to model ambient light in shadow areas. By estimating the face surface and illumination conditions, we are able to reconstruct a face image containing frontal illumination. The reconstructed face images give a large improvement in performance of face recognition in uncontrolled conditions.

https://doi.org/10.1007/978-3-663-06736-8nderlying subspace of subjects with similar appearance. We then propose a novel embedding criterion to learn each manifold from the exemplar-centered local structure of subjects. The experiment results on the standard databases demonstrates that the SMME is robust to variations of identities and achieves high pose estimation accuracy.
