Considerations for Designing with Metal Matrix Composite Materials are given in a table. The structural indices that are used to calculate ratios between MMC and conventional material to compare weight to strength, impact resistance, efficiency of columns and plates, flexural rigidity, and structural efficiency indices for plates and shells are then discussed.

A Causal Approach to Effective Dynamic Moduli of Random Compositesresents some of the recently established theories of these phenomena and their implications to predictions of effective dynamic moduli. It is shown that a homogeneous viscoelastic medium may serve as an effective model for random elastic mixtures. The concept of shock modulus is discussed also.
