The Activation of Chemical Bonds at SurfacesRecently we have developed a framework for analyzing systems that are complex and adaptive. These properties are characteristic of community information systems. This paper sets out an abbreviated version of our framework. We then apply it to the case of community information systems, with special emphasis on extracting implications for design.
