The Spatial Distribution of Galaxies in the Southern Sky,n the northern hemisphere. It will be some years before the quantity and quality of redshifts in the southern hemisphere can complement the northern data and correct the imbalance. In the meantime, we wish to offer a preliminary examination using available data — albeit somewhat heterogeneous.

Statistical Analysis of the Shapes of Rich Superclusters,redshifts. We describe two tests, a principal axes test and a velocity gradient test, which are especially useful for this purpose. We apply these tests to samples of clusters from the Abell catalog and search for evidence of disk-like or filamentary structures.

Superclusters: A New Insight into the Problem of Groups with Discrepant Redshifts,ut 6000 km/s, whilst the fifth, NGC 7320, has v~ 800 km/s. Several attempts of estimating the density of the “Stephan’s Quintet like” groups have been carried on, giving contradictory results about the evidence for a chance projection in the discordant redshift groups. However, for galaxies in the magnitude range 14.0≤m.≤15.5 positioned over the whole sky, there is a preferred supergalactic position angle of 94° with a dispersion of 40°.

Combinations give dispersions of 1240A/mm and 620A/mm at Hγ. This note discusses the accuracy of preliminary galaxy redshift surveys using the two intermediate dispersions.
