Fundus examination of the left eye found a lightly pigmented lesion posterior to the superior equator. A visual field examination showed an inferior defect that extended into the lower part of central fixation.

Shallow Retinal Detachmentntioned a “curved reflection” noticed intermittently in her upper outer quadrant of vision. Ocular examination including fundus inspection was described as normal. A CT scan was read as normal and she was referred for echography to eliminate myositis or other orbital inflammatory processes.

Orbital Myositis scan was felt to be consistent with mild sinusitis and a preseptal cellulitis and he was given intravenous (IV) antibiotics and sent home on an oral agent. His symptoms improved over several days but then similar symptoms occurred in his left eye. He was seen again at the emergency room and the ophthalmologist on call was asked to come in.
