DNA Lesions Induced by Ionizing Radiation,amaged DNA sites, predominantly damaged bases, single-stand breaks, double-strand breaks and DNA–protein cross-links. Molecular oxygen enhances and thiols reduce the severity of the DNA damage. The mechanisms leading to these lesions are discussed in the light of our present knowledge of the underlying free-radical chemistry.
