Passivity-based Decentralized Control,sitory, and the low-level waste (LLW) will be converted to grout and disposed of by shallow land burial on the Hanford Site. Because of the high cost of vitrification and geologic disposal, pretreatment methods are being developed to minimize the volume of HLW requiring disposal.

Passivity-based Decentralized Control, that began to overwhelm the natural biodegradation processes. New chemical technologies began to produce very stable chemical products specifically designed to be used once and then discarded as waste. Many of those stable materials, such as plastics and transformer oils, are very resistant to biodegradation.
