Catalysis,i.. These authors point out that the word “catalyst” was invented by Berzelius.to describe the property of certain substances which facilitate chemical change without being consumed during the reaction. Catalysts aid the attainment of chemical equilibrium by reducing the potential-energy barriers in the reaction path.
