Final considerations and future perspectives,, the condition of the dialysis population has been changed radically. The high proportion of multiple disabilities inevitably decreases the quality of life. It is fortunate therefore that there is a growing interest not only in the assessment but also in improvement of life quality.

Terminal renal failure,tely lost. While the term ESRD originally implied that the patient could not survive without ‘renal replacement’ therapy, there is a general tendency to start treatment earlier, while there is still some ‘residual’ renal function present.
