Brezhnev Reconsidered,The question which has been asked many times by interested colleagues during the preparation of this book has been ‘why?’ Why publish a book on Brezhnev? Surely there is nothing new worth saying on that era? And surely an uninspiring leader presiding over a period of stagnation and decline is not the ideal subject for a new study?
