Acoustical Measurement of Breaking Surfaces WavesBreaking surface waves can be detected acoustically in the open ocean with a small hydrophone array. We describe the technique used for this purpose and show a few results, including measurement of breaking wave propagation speed and the characteristics of the acoustical radiation.
