Tetragonal Boron and Borides with Similar Structuresubstitution reaction with BCl.. In the infrared spectrum of powdered .-boron, two bands can be assigned to vibrations of boron atoms belonging to the same icosahedron. In BeB. and in tetragonal boron, additional bands are observed which belong to the stretching frequencies of the bonds between neighboring icosahedrons.

Some Results of the Band Structure Calculation of Rhombohedral Boron by the K·p-Methods not possible to determine where the band edges are located, where in the Brillouin zone the transitions between valence and conduction band take place, and whether these transitions will be direct or indirect. Optical measurements together with our group theoretical results could possibly lead to a band model for boron.

Zustandssicht: Systeme als Zustandsmaschineno be the most satisfactory. Decomposition on boron and other substrates was performed using both hydrogen and vacuum procedures. In some cases, the final product was then zone-refined. Analytical results from emission and mass spectroscopy are given. Advantages and disadvantages of the bromide and iodide processes are compared.
