The Guanidinium Group: Its Biological Role and Synthetic Analogs,ins which possess essential arginine groups will be briefly introduced. Finally, several artificial receptors will be analyzed in terms of hydrogen bonding patterns and the ability to use the guanidinium functional group to specifically recognize, orient, and enhance the cleavage of phosphodiesters.
