Risk Assessment in Benign Breast Disease,-up. The advantage of assessing the possible risk of progressing to malignancy in benign disease is that regular clinical and radiological follow-up can detect malignancy at an early, potentially curable stage.

Nancy J. Rothwell,Sarah A. Loddickiagnostic tool. Needle core biopsies benefit from a higher sensitivity and specificity than FNAC (.). Needle core biopsies are also preferred to localisation excision biopsies as they potentially spare patients with benign lesions unnecessary surgery.
