Development of new scintillation and Rossi counters will allow simultaneous measurement of the radiation dose and quality of heavy-ion beams. Further research is required to provide a comprehensive biophysical model for clinical applications.

The effects of electron temperature and density on the ion–dust grain bremsstrahlung process are investigated in dusty plasmas. It is found that the ion–dust bremsstrahlung radiation cross section decreases with increasing electron density in dusty plasmas.
