Humeral Fractures,Humeral shaft fractures may heal in malalignment and still have good functional outcomes because of compensation by the shoulder and elbow. When surgical intervention is selected, open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) or intramedullary (IM) nails are both acceptable options. Anterior and posterior approaches are demonstrated.

Distal Humeral Transcondylar Fractures,Transcondylar fractures of the distal humerus have characteristic transverse, anterior shear, or posterior shear fracture patterns. Transverse fractures may be amenable to column screws. Anterior and posterior fractures require plate fixation in a buttress mode to prevent recurring displacement because of the shear forces.

Olecranon Process Fractures,Tension band wiring of olecranon process fractures has been the mainstay technique for many years. Intramedullary fixation also has been successfully utilized and allows for early range of motion and functional restoration. Options less often used include fragment excision and advancement or nonoperative treatment.
