Development in the Application of Knowledge Base Systems in the Canadian Nuclear Industrytion of procedures and communication..The “Operator Companion”, an expert system intended to diagnose plant faults and to advise the operator on appropriate restoring and corrective actions, is a major undertaking which is receiving support within the research and engineering groups of AECL and from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario.

The output of the system is an automated generation of ECT programs. Used in an outage inspection, this system significantly reduced planning time.
