Knowledge Spillovers and Economic Growth,ed quantity..Polluted or contaminated water sources can contain chemical or microbiological hazards which can lead to sickness and require treatment before consumption. In many cases it is better to protect the quality of the raw water providing sustainable management than to treat it after it has become deteriorated.

Knowledge Spillovers and Economic Growth,ater disinfection process during the last years. The aim of this chapter is to briefly describe the fundamentals of this process with special focus on particular aspects related to pathogens inactivation in water. Moreover, the most recent scientific contributions on the application of Fenton and photo-Fenton for water disinfection are discussed.
