History of passive remote sensing of aerosol from space,ative information was missing until the first spectroscopic measurements of the atmosphere were obtained in 1970 by Soyuz-9 cosmonauts using handheld spectrometers. Thus, the era of space-based aerosol remote sensing had begun.
