Detectors for Radiation DosimetryIn previous years Radiation Dosimetry in Medicine was concerned mainly with measuring doses produced by x-rays, gamma rays and electrons. These radiations have the common feature that their R.B.E. ≈ 1, and they can be monitored by the same types of detectors.

Passive DetectorsIn this lecture I shall interpret the term “passive” radiation detector as meaning one that will yield up its information after an irradiation is completed, and often only after some processing of the detector to obtain the data or some considerable data processing. In addition, neutrons from certain sources, e.g., fission reactors, provide large fields for the irradiation of many biological objects at a time, an essential feature for the study of effects in animal populations.
