Theorizing the Cultural Borderlands,Recently developed angular rate sensors are all based on two fundamental physical effects, i.e. Sagnac and Coriolis effects. In this chapter these physical effects are briefly discussed to allow the comprehension of different gyroscope technologies reviewed in the following chapters.
