Eric C. Schirmer,Jose I. de las Herasablished in Kharkov on the initiative of A. F. Ioffe and I. V. Obreimov. The first cryogenic laboratory in the USSR began in this Institute. The year 1978 marks 50 years of cryogenic research in the USSR.
