We propose a novel EPON architecture where OLTs and ONUs are partially virtualized and migrated to the network core following SDN and NFV paradigms, thus decreasing CAPEX and OPEX, and improving the flexibility and efficiency of network operations.

Business Modeling and Software Designr to use servers deployed within the metro network “at/above the RAN”. A quantitative study is carried out to estimate the potential gains of bandwidth due to mobile traffic offload, both in the core and the metro networks, depending on the location of the servers accessed thanks to the offloading strategy.

Roger Alan Pick,George P. Schellhigh speed traffic and large amount of hosts for OS detection are issues to overcome. In this paper we propose a flow based framework for large scale OS detection. Furthermore, we describe the framework implementation into a flow probe, provide performance comparison and share remarks on deployment in a real world network.
